Permaculture

I was invited to document a one-week workshop given by Sepp Holzer the well-known permaculture expert from Austria.

As I learned about his growing techniques and stewardship of the land I became more and more convinced that permaculture would be a very important part of the Little Knife Sanctuary.

In Sepp Holzer’s words, “ If you have land and water, no one should be hungry. Water is Life”

There are large amounts of over mature poplar trees on the sanctuary and I decided to use them for hugel beds and mushroom farming. The trees will be replaced with fruit trees to create a fruit forest.
