I was invited to experience the maple sugar tapping and boiling of maple sap on the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation. There I met native activists Lorna Hanes and Winona LaDuke (Honor the Earth). They made me aware of the degeneration of the Alberta Sands oil pipeline which runs through reservation land. The endangerment of the wetlands and groundwater is an immediate concern. Their mission is to protect the earth and to call for action to resolve the pipeline problem.
